FEES

Clinical assessment and follow up

We charge the clinic fees suggested by the Australian Medical Association, but offer a discount if you are a health care card holder or a pensioner.

Clinic payment is required at the time of consultation. Payment options include cash, cheque, EFTPOS or credit / debit card. If you have a WorkCover claim approved, kindly bring the approved claim number; if an approved claim number has not yet been issued, you will be required to pay for your consultation and have this reimbursed through WorkCover.

Your first appointment with Mr Watson for a new problem will cost $205. We offer a discount if you are a pensioner / health care card holder. You will receive $72.75 back from Medicare.

Follow-up consultations are generally quicker than initial consultations, and are therefore charged a lower fee. Follow up clinic cost is $110, with a discount for pensioners. You will receive $36.55 back from medicare.

The cost of the first post-operative appointment is generally included into the surgical fee. This generally applies to the first post op visit, until 6 weeks post op

Surgery

If you and Mr Watson decide that surgery is the best option for your condition, an estimation of the cost will be provided by Mr Watson’s secretary.

The specific costs will vary, depending on the condition, your health fund and level of cover. Most health funds reimburse approximately 60% of the recommended AMA fees for surgical procedures. Thus, there is generally an out of pocket expense (gap) of $200-400, depending on the fund and the procedure.

Pensioners and health cafe card holders will not be charged a Surgical Gap.

If you will feel financial pressure because of any of your medical fees, please discuss with Mr Watson’s secretary- we will be happy to discount these where appropriate.

Other costs which may be incurred in excess of the health fund rebate include, but are not limited to:

  • The surgical assistant’s fee (Generally “No Gap”)
  • The Anaesthetist’s fee (often a gap of $200-400)
  • The Private Hospital fees
  • Radiology fees
  • Pharmacy fees

(these will also vary depending on your specific health fund and level of cover).

There are no additional fees associated with MAIB, Workcover or DVA patients.
